Here I am on the west coast, carrying so many east coast hearts and so many west coast ideals--which so many poiticos may not like to hear--are SO similar in roots. I have been told many times my voice carries much resonance because it is not often heard. For the sake of the children in my life, and for the sake of my brothers and sisters, I hope now that resonance carries beyond this blog.
I don't believe I have all of the answers, but I do believe I can help some understand the complications of what is happening in the world we live in.
I also hope to present what I see as a common sense approach to what we face, as opposed to knee jerk 'respond before react'. BUT PLEASE, let me be clear, my political leaning is far left--as many are taught to understand it, but even that I am going to challenge.
It is the very cloth that political labels have been built upon that poisons our idea of ideology--very well demonstrated upon the class based and race based foundations passed on to us that have defined so much of our daily lives. If you doubt that, please challenge me. But, again, be prepared for the fight of your life.
It is these issues, class, social justice, racism, politics, HISTORY, and the such that I will be dealing with in this blog. And this blog is symbiotic, in that it is helping me be who I am in a space that is more confined...........
much love and peace. no matter what your beliefs are........

Dude don't put down New England politics- East-Coasters have an awesome history of radical struggle. Bread and Roses baby!
In fact, I'd say the west-coast progressive tradition/culture you're talking about is far more rooted in liberalism than radical discourse.I know there are radicals from and of the west coast, but I always think of west-coast politics in general as being all about the same old powerful people doing the right thing and being nicer to poor people as opposed to an actual shift in power- letting poor people have control over their own lives.
